Broken Bloody Glass Cupcakes

OK a little gory I know but it’s really the perfect show stopper for halloween! So fun! Buy store bought or homemade frosted cupcakes and then decorate with the glass shards and edible blood! As long as you have a candy thermometer, it’s pretty simple and everyone will love it.

Sugar Glass

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2/3 cup light corn syrup

Edible Blood

  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 15 drops of red food coloring
  • 2-3 drops of blue food coloring

Directions

Line a rimmed baking pan with a silat or parchment paper.

To make the sugar glass, in a large sauce pan mix the sugar, corn syrup and water. Stick a candy thermometer into the pan and let it come to 300 degrees. Stirring constantly. The mixture will thicken.

When it reaches 300 degrees, carefully and quickly pour onto the prepared baking pan, into an even layer. Let the sugar cool completely and harden, on the counter. Once completely hardened break into shards.

Edible blood

In small mixing bowl mix together the corn syrup and corn starch, and slowly whisk in 1/4 cup of water, adding more if necessary until it’s a the consistency of blood. Then whisk in the food coloring until is all combined, and drip over the broken glass!

Decorate the cupcakes!!
