Toffee
It’s the holidays!! So what better way to spread some cheer than homemade candy?! Toffee is super easy to make and always a hit! Just two ingredients and a little bit of patience but great at any party or as a gift!! Always fun to add bourbon or nuts of any sort to it as well!!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (1 stick butter)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
Directions
Line a rimmed baking sheet pan with a silpat or parchment paper and set aside.
In a medium sauce pan with a candy thermometer attached add the sugar, butter and 2 tbsp. of cold water. Gently heat that all together over medium heat until it reaches 300 degrees. Make sure to watch this, it will burn quickly. Swirl the pan a couple times but don’t stir it. Use a pastry brush with a little water if some sugar gets stuck on the sides of the pot. Once it hits 300 gently pour onto the silpat and set aside to cool for about 20 minutes.
Once it’s completely cooled and hard crack into small bite size pieces. Keep in an air tight container. Enjoy!!
