Seared Halloumi with Herb Salsa Verde
This is so easy and fast to make. It’s perfect if you are in a time crunch and have people dropping in over the holidays. Halloumi is a semi-hard cheese a mix between sheep and goat milk and has a really high melting point so you can grill or sear it. It’s great by itself but I spooned a little herb salsa verde over the top. The herbs just bring the cheese to life. It’s bright and flavorful, and who doesn’t love a little warm cheese around now?!
Herb Salsa Verde
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup cilantro, chopped
- 1/2 cup parsley, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, peeled and minced
- 1 tbsp. lemon or lime juice
- 3/4 cup olive oil
- salt and black pepper
- pinch of red pepper flakes
- 1 block halloumi
- serve with crackers
Directions
In a small bowl combine the cilantro, parsley, garlic, lemon or lime juice and drizzle in the olive oil and season with salt, black pepper and a pinch of red pepper flakes. Mix it all together and set aside.
Heat a skillet to medium high heat with a little olive oil. Slice the halloumi and place in the pan. Let them cook for about 2-3 minutes or golden brown on each side. Place on a serving board and spoon the herb salsa verde over the top, serve with some crackers. Enjoy!!
