Lavender Vanilla Honey Ice Cream
It’s officially ice cream season!!! Perfect for any occasion! I recently got an ice cream machine and it is a full obsession now! There is something so fun and satisfying about churning your own fresh ice cream. I have been playing around with the endless flavors and this is by far a favorite! Cream, honey, lavender and vanilla it is such a rich, luxurious combination that is perfect right before bed time. It’s so dreamy!! The ice cream is so velvety and creamy. The ice cream will keep well in the freezer for up to a week in an air tight container.
Ingredients
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups whole milk
- 2 1/2 tbsp. dried lavender buds
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 tbsp. pure vanilla extract
Directions
In a large sauce pan whisk together the heavy cream, milk, lavender and honey. Bring the lavender cream to just steaming so it’s nice and warm. Turn off the heat and add in the vanilla extract and let it sit at room temperature for about 20-30 minutes to steep the lavender. Whisk and make sure all the honey is completely melted. Then using a fine mesh strainer, strain out the solids.
Strain into a larger bowl and chill in the fridge for at least an hour or until the cream is completely chilled. It’s really important that everything is completely chilled down properly before churning.
Once it’s all chilled pour mixture into the ice cream maker and follow manufacture’s instructions. Place back in the freezer and let it completely freeze or another hour or so. Once ready let it sit out for 5-10 minutes to thaw before scooping and enjoy!! It’s great with an additional drizzle of honey on it as well!!
