Crispy Feta with Hot Honey

Three words, crispy warm cheese! I’m telling you this is so good you won’t be able to stop eating it. The whole block of feta is coated in breadcrumbs and then pan fried until crisp. Drizzle a little of the hot honey over the top and it’s a perfect little appetizer!

Ingredients

  • 1 block feta
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup neutral oil
  • hot honey
  • crackers

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Remove the whole block of feta and pat it dry with a towel. Place the flour in a little shallow bowl, then the egg in another one and then the panko. Coat the feta first in the flour making sure it’s all evenly covered, shake off any excess then into the egg, and finally into the panko breadcrumbs. Use your hand to press the breadcrumbs into the feta.

In a skillet heat the oil over medium heat. Throw a couple bread crumbs to test into the oil to see if they start to sizzle. Then the oil will be ready. Carefully place the feta into the oil and let it cook for about 2 minutes on each side and make sure to brown the edges as well. Once the whole block is crispy throw it in the oven for about 5 minutes just to warm through the center.

Place on a serving plate along with the crackers and hot honey and serve!
