Apple Brats with Spiced Apple Sauce
Happy apple season!! We went to the apple orchard on Sunday and filled up with tons of apples and found these awesome apple brats, so I had to make these. The apple sauce is so rich and delicious and easy to make. Your kids will love it too! It’s not filled with all those preservatives and only a little bit of sugar. Apples straight from the orchard!
Spiced Apple Sauce
Â
Ingredients
- 5 lbs. apples (12-15 apples, peeled and sliced) I used my favorite McIntosh, Regent, and Fireside
- ½ cups water
- ¾ cup brown sugar (depending how sweet or tart your apples are)
- 1 tbsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp. ground ginger
- 1 tsp. ground nutmeg
Directions
Place all ingredients into a large pot over medium to low heat. Cover and let simmer 35-45 minutes, stirring occasionally. Your whole house will smell like apples and sweet cinnamon! Cook until the apples are tender. To puree you can either place the apples into a food processor with a metal blade attachment or use a potato masher to mash them up to your desired consistency. Apple sauce is so delicious warm or cold!
Apple Brats
Â
Ingredients
- 4 apple brats
- 4 brat buns
Directions
On a hot grill pan place the apple brats and cook for about 7-8 minutes until heated through. Grill the buns as well if you wish too. Assemble the brat and cover with that delicious spiced apple sauce.
